nakagin tower

nakagin tower is an abandoned capsule hotel in tokyo that is often praised for it’s bold metabolist architecture. the sharp geometric design of the building’s architecture and rooms was ahead of its time, and i believe that an inexpensive hotel with such a bold design would thrive in 2017 and beyond.

the design of the rebrand focuses on a modern minimal aesthetic inspired by japanese poster design. the gift shop functions as more than a cheesy hotel logo merch store, and instead could thrive as a contemporary lifestyle brand that matches the hotel’s colorful and playful aesthetic.
